Mondo Music, in association with Nonesuch Records and American Zoetrope, are proud to present the Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack to Francis Ford Coppola’s APOCALYPSE NOW FINAL CUT.
A searing New Hollywood epic, Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 masterpiece APOCALYPSE NOW remains one of the most staggering achievements in American cinema.
To capture the shocking soundscapes of war, Coppola sought an original score for the film from father Carmine Coppola, who’d previously contributed compositions to THE GODFATHER and THE GODFATHER PART II. Together with the help of leading synthesists of the era, they rewired the scope and scale of synth scoring, creating one of the era’s most singular and influential soundtracks.
Utilizing Dolby Atmos and Vision as well as Meyer Sound’s Sensual Sound technology, Coppola released 2019’s APOCALYPSE NOW FINAL CUT as the definitive version of his opus. Unveiled in time for the film’s 45th anniversary, our new 17-track double LP features the Coppolas’ groundbreaking work as well as essential cuts like Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries, “Suzie Q” by Flash Cadillac & the Continental Kids and, of course, The Doors’ “The End.”
With original artwork by Laurent Durieux, this gatefold 2xLP features the revolutionary synth score by Carmine Coppola and Francis Ford Coppola with remastering for vinyl by James Plotkin.
